Actually, I discovered that she used to perform fashion shows during the 60s, that she recently made a collaboration with Issey Miyake and that her work was the theme (and she was the coordinator) of a Bunka Fashion College fashion show.

But, i still believe in her as a very importante graphic inspiration (and it could be massive). She uses some of the 80s colors, with all those 50s polka dots (crazy polka dots) and lots of very particular pattern and very recognizable symbols like those pumpkins…

And, you know. As I was researching, I discovered that Marc Jacobs was faster than me! He discovered her (or used her work as a plataform) before than me (december 2007). Ok, ok. He is that bloody genius, and I am just starting in that business. 

Should I start again? Should I look for another trend? Or should I be proud of my coolhunting eyes…?

Anyway… as Marc Jacobs just used Kusama’s patterns, instead of making a real collaboration with her, I think there is an open space here for new partnerships with the artist. A good collaboration could be with Vitra Design, developing with her a new sofa – based on her artistic shapes – and new graphic designs to the entire line. What about a sofa light this one?

Today I was walking on the beach (I was not on the beach, because I was not suposed to be there but in a museum… but that is a long story). It was my first time in a Barcelona beach. Lots of people from all over the world everywhere, nice restaurants, an incredible blue sea and a nice archtectural enviroment: lots of modern structures and high buildings. And then, almost in the ending of my walking this group of geometrical structures called my attention.

Here, in Barcelona, I found lots and lots of Havaianas (and maybe more and more of a fake one called Bahianas), some movements around Capoeira (Brasil’s important cultural manifestation) and, in my coolhunting class, a friend of mine (from Chile) “wearing” a Brasil’s flag.
